Recap of the Holidays

Busy, busy, busy. This is how it's been this last week especially with both Eric and I working but we had a great week with it being our first Christmas together. We've spent good time together with family and friends, but today Eric leaves to go back home to California only for him to come back in less than a week so that he can be here for my surgery.

This Christmas was pretty special for my entire family because in the first time in years, my mom's side of the family was complete with even my cousin Jeff and his wife Jen and their daughter Jessica taking the train in from Philly to celebrate the holidays with the family. Although they leave tomorrow, we had a great time with them, and we've already planned that we would try every other year to celebrate Christmas with the entire family whether that be in Canada or in the US. As long as there is a Carnegie cheesecake from NY, the family WILL be there!

Right after Christmas, I had to have one of my wisdom teeth taken out. At least it wasn't taken out before Christmas or I wouldn't have been able to eat anything! Also during this holiday season, my uncle had fallen ill and by his request, my dad along with my aunt flew to the Bay Area to be with him. This was the first time in 34 years that my mom hasn't rung in the New Year with my dad! But she was pretty occupied nonetheless with the party that we had at our house. We had great food and there were 2 rounds of poker and scrabble going on before midnight. Eric and I even mananged to sneak out for an hour to see the Callejo and Austria families and to catch the Raptors win in New Orleans. After ringing in the new year at our house with the Halili family, Fran, Trae, and Seyla, Tim and Louise and Jefferson and Rachel, it was tradition for the adults to throw coins for all the kiddies pick up. Selena actually ended up with $10 worth of coins! As the night died down, and Jason finally beat Eric in poker, it was guys against girls with a game of Taboo. With a tie in the end, and the boys finally winning, it was a game to remember with skunks and Harry Potter being the main topics of the game.

The best part of this morning had to have been our sleepover guest Francis waking up and cooking breakfast for the entire household! Toscino, Eggs and garlic fried rice. yum. Thanks uncle Vic for instilling the whole breakfast cooking with Francis. You've taught him well!

With the way I celebrated and rang in 2008 is any indication of how this new year is going to be, then I can't wait how great this year is going to be!
