Home Sweet Home

We're finally here. In California. It's pretty surreal. I think the girls and I still feel like it's vacation. Emma knew we weren't 'home'. She cried alot the first day but I think she's really getting used to her surroundings and seeing her other lolo and lola. We're all still suffering from jetlag except Selena. We've all been waking up at 6:30am. But slowly, we're starting to wake up a half hour later, which is not bad.

We've already had some really good eats. In N' Out, hawaiian bbq, just to name a few. I've got to slow down...coz I'm not on vacation! My mother in law has come to visit every day since we've been here! LOL. It's all good though. She's been watching the girls especially Emma while I straighten up the house. Eric has definitely been living like a bachelor. There is stuff all of the place and alot of hidden mess. But I've been organizing and cleaning it all out and I know Eric does appreciate it because everything is in order now. He's definitely happy that his family is finally home. It's still kinda weird that we are talking to each other in person rather than on the phone in the evening. At one point, we both were like, is this real? Are we actually in our home together? It's very bittersweet.

However, I am missing my family like crazy. My sister should be giving birth any time now and it makes me sad that I won't be there to witness it. I even miss seeing my niece and nephew all the time, although since every one in the family now got webcams, we still are seeing each other everyday! The BFF and her kids sent us pics and a video to watch. The pics were great because it pretty much chronicled all the kids since digital cameras were at its prime. My godson sent a shout out to me and well, as soon as he said 'Hi Ninang', it was over, the waterworks began.

The BFF gave me a great idea when I'm starting to feel homesick to write down a couple of things what I miss about home/Canada and what I love about my new home. I've gotten some beautiful journals as gifts so I think I will write it in there but will also share it with all of you. Until the next post, I'll make this one tiny list:

What I miss most about Canada:
My family and friends

What I love about my new home:
My husband and I finally living together with our children

I read Selena's entry about "home" and I just about cried my eyes out. It's very heart-wrenching to hear it from a tween's perspective. So different, yet so similar.
