Losing Patience

Now that Eric and I have finally tied the knot, we knew that our next step was filling out the application forms for our visa. But with Eric's long hours at work and me starting my full time contract job next week, we're finding it difficult for us to find time to get started. (Remember there's still a time difference between us!) Actually our biggest problem is that we don't even really know where to start! We've both done some research and we have our handy visa 'bible' book, but it's all very overwhelming. We've pretty much come to the conclusion that we should just hire a lawyer and get them to do all the work for us so that we don't miss anything and we get it done right. But we also know this will be costly. I'm finding it much more frustrating because I like to get things done right away. I can be very anal and I'm starting to lose my patience already because I just want to get started. I already know that this visa application is a long process so everyday that passes by without doing anything, I feel like it's just going to take longer for us to get over to California. This was the main reason we decided to get married so soon in the first place.

We do have a couple of resources to help us get started. My cousin is in the exact situation as we're in but they're in the middle of working on their own papers, so I don't want to burden them with more questions. My other cousin went through with his visa and has gotten his green card but he's in Germany right now for work so it's hard to contact him, and Eric's cousin went through the same thing, but it's just hard all around. So here I am...frustrated. Married, happy...but equally frustrated. I just don't want my blog to eventually be called 'Staying Safe in T.O.'
