It's been almost a month since I last blogged in here. But so much has happened in the last month that I don't even know if I can begin to explain what has been going on. It's probably best to just write in point form again, what's been happening in the Cruzada/Bautista family.
- Since May 20, I've had 4, yes count them, 4 ERCP procedures done to have gallstones removed from my bile duct. My last ERCP was actually done at St. Mike's hospital downtown since my OB had actually sent me to Mount Sinai to be reassessed. Between seeing doctors at Mount Sinai, Toronto General Hospital and St. Michael's, it was finally decided that I would not have surgery to have my gallbladder taken out. It would be too dangerous for the baby and if I went into pre-term labor, the baby's chance of survival would be slim. My last ERCP at St. Mike's, the doctor put a stint in my bile duct to help the flow of bile and for the stones not to get blocked. The doctors are hoping this will last through my pregnancy and I will not suffer another gallbladder attack.
- Despite what my body has been through these last 2 months, the baby is doing really well. Even though I've lost weight, the baby's is growing well and is in the 9o percentile for growth.
- After much thought and discussion with my husband, parents and my OB, I've decided to have the baby here in Canada. With everything that is going on with my health and with my pregnancy being high risk, it just makes sense to stay here. I've had the best doctor's and specialists see me because of my situation and it's better that I stay under their care.
- After I have the baby, I'll also undergo surgery here in Toronto to have my gallbladder taken out. Hoping that everything goes smoothly, Eric and I are hoping that the entire family will finally be together before the Christmas holidays. The girls will continue going to school here, and then attend school in California in the new year.
- We are still going through the visa process. After having our medical appointment with US Immigration, we asked them to write a deferral letter that we get our visas after I have the baby.
- My husband will be in our new house until the we move there at the end of the year. I'm sad that he'll be there by himself and we won't be able to enjoy our new home together for another 6 months. But at least our home will be somewhat ready when we all move in.
- The girls are pretty excited that they won't be leaving their school this year. This just means an extra 6 months with their friends. I love the school that the girls go to and I was also sad for them to leave. Selena's friends even gave her a surprise farewell party! It was really sweet. She's surrounded by a good group of friends and they're all a good influence on each other.
- Even though I'll be missing out on my new house and special events in California, I'm really looking forward to spending my summer here at home. It just means more time with my family and friends. My cousin from Philly is here for the summer also and it's been great to be hanging out with him and my niece almost everyday since they got here. I can't wait for more bbq's at the house, enjoying our new deck, watching the girls enjoy the summer with their friends and our family and having tea with my best friend. For once, I'm feeling less overwhelmed, and ready to just relax and enjoy the rest of my stay here in Canada.
